The genesis of this series lies in a chance encounter: that of Masha Schmidt with Carl Czerny’s pedagogical scores, essential companions for every piano student. These exercises, known for their austerity, here become fertile ground for a reinvention of form. The artist subverts the repetitive, mechanical, and rigid nature of these études to breathe into them a new life, guided by her emotions, moods, and intuitions. The eye is invited to read as much as to listen. In this way, each work becomes a poetic act of resistance to the pitiless monotony of our lives. Partitas is not an end, but an opening.
