Typical work by the Fluxus artist, who used short lines of cursive text in particular for his art, as is also known from music or graffiti - Vautier ran the record shop ‘Magasin’ in Nice from 1958-1973 alongside his artistic activities. Vautier was inspired by Yves Klein, Marcel Duchamp and the Nouveaux Réalistes. Vautier took part in documenta 5 in Kassel in 1972 and became a mentor of the ‘Figuration Libre’ art movement in the early 1980s.
