Born in Russia and based in New York, Ilya Fedotov-Fedorov trained in genetic bioengineering. He works across sculpture, painting and video, at the intersection of art and the natural sciences. His works draw on the representation of biological processes and forms, and on the methodological principles and display conventions of the colonial natural history museum. In doing so, the artist shows how we perceive and describe the world around us through the prism of the language we use.
